April 30, Fairfield, CT –Eric Donnenfeld, M.D., an ophthalmologist with TLC Vision Centers of Connecticut, was recently honored by Mayor C. Ray Nagin of the City of New Orleans.
Mayor Nagin proclaimed March 11, 2006 as a Special Day of Honor for Dr. Donnenfeld. This honor was bestowed at the 55 th Annual Symposium of the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology for outstanding humanitarian services which Dr. Donnenfeld provided to the City of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Dr. Donnefeld has performed over 35,000 laser vision correction procedures and is the Co-Director of the Cornea Department at Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, New York, and Co-Director of the External Disease/ Cornea Department at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York, New York. He is the Surgical Director of the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island at the North Shore University Hospital and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at New York University Medical College.
Dr. Donnenfeld has been one of the principal investigators of the Excimer Laser Study for Corneal Disease at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. In addition, he has written over 140 scientific papers and books on corneal disease and refractive surgery. Dr. Donnenfeld has delivered lectures throughout the United States and abroad on refractive surgery and is considered an international authority on the subject.
